The Infinite eXperience app includes a feature called ExperienceIQ which lets you manage internet access for each member of your household. You can create a profile for each child, group their devices together, set daily time limits, schedule internet access on and off automatically, block specific apps and websites, restrict content by category, and turn on Safe Search and YouTube restrictions. Everything is enforced at the network level by your SmartLife Wi-Fi System, which means the controls apply to every device on the profile while it is connected to your home Wi-Fi.
Before you begin, make sure you have the Infinite eXperience app installed and signed in, and that the devices you want to manage have connected to your Wi-Fi at least once so the app can see them on your network.
Open the Infinite eXperience app and go to the People screen on the dashboard. Tap the plus icon to add a new person, enter your child's name, and then assign their devices from your list of connected devices.
When choosing which devices to assign, include every device your child uses on the Wi-Fi, such as their phone, tablet, laptop, gaming console, smart TV, and any streaming stick they have access to. The more complete the device list, the more effective the controls will be. You can add or remove devices from a profile at any time.
One important note before you go any further: do not assign your own phone, the one running the Infinite eXperience app, to a restricted profile. Doing so can lock you out of the app when a schedule activates or restrictions are applied. If this happens by accident, switch your phone to mobile data, open the app, and remove your device from the profile.
Once the profile is created, open ExperienceIQ from within the child's profile and go to Time Limits. This is where you create schedules for when internet access is allowed.
You can set different rules for each day of the week, which is useful for separating school nights from weekends. For example, you can set internet to turn off automatically between 9:00pm and 6:30am every night so devices are offline during sleep, or block access during school hours on weekdays. You can also create custom offline blocks for things like dinner time or homework, with up to five offline blocks per day supported.
When a scheduled block is active, all devices on that profile lose internet access until the block ends.
From the same profile, open Restrictions to control what your child can access while they are online.
You can block individual websites by entering the address, block individual applications such as TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, or Discord from a built-in list, and apply category-based content filtering. The category filters cover broad areas including adult content, online gaming, social networking, online shopping, cloud storage, and more. You can apply a pre-built filter set aimed at a particular age group, or build a custom filter by selecting the categories that suit your family.
Category filters are the quickest way to cover a lot of ground at once. App and website blocks are useful for filling specific gaps, such as blocking a particular social media platform that is not covered by the broader categories.
Still within Restrictions, you will find toggles for Safe Search and YouTube restrictions. Turning on Safe Search forces Google and Bing searches into filtered mode for the devices on that profile, which hides explicit results and images. The YouTube restrictions toggle applies YouTube's own restricted mode, which hides content flagged as mature or age-inappropriate.
Both settings are enforced at the network level for the profile, so they apply regardless of which device or browser your child is using.
In addition to scheduled controls, you can pause internet access for a profile at any time. From the People screen, select the profile and use the pause option to cut off internet access immediately. This is useful for things like dinner, homework, or quickly managing screen time without changing the schedule. Resuming access is just as easy when you are ready.
You can also pause access for a single device rather than a whole profile by selecting the device from the device list and pausing it directly.
Most changes are pushed to your SmartLife Wi-Fi System within a few seconds. Some restrictions, particularly category-based content filters, may take a minute or two to fully apply across all of a child's devices. If a device is already mid-session on a blocked site, it may need to reload the page before the block takes effect.
